9 day Gorilla Highlight Uganda Rwanda memorable safari

Your 9 days’ safari will give you a great experience to explore both Uganda and Rwanda amazing wildlife flora and fauna. You will have a great experience to see a number of wildlife and bird species through a game drive and boat cruise, and the encounter the forest giants at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the trekking experience known for having a half of the remaining gorillas in the world. You will then be transferred to Rwanda for other magical everlasting activities.

Day 1: Arrival at the Entebbe airport – Kampala

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Day 3: Game drive in Lake Mburo and transfer to Bwindi

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Day 1: Arrival at the Entebbe airport – Kampala

Upon arrival at the Entebbe airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our safari guide who will later transfer you to your booked accommodation for an overnight and dinner. You will be briefed on your safari program. Depending on your arrival time, you may take a city tour to explore more livelihoods of city dwellers.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After taking your morning breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National park which is roughly a 3 hours drive from Kampala city with a stopover at the Equator crossing line in Masaka for photography, arriving in the afternoon ready for your lunch at the Lodge, a peaceful and exclusive retreat in Lake Mburo National Park. Afternoon boat cruise amidst the Hippos is amazing. A sun down game drive for your rewarding as you head back to the lodge.

Day 3: Game drive in Lake Mburo and transfer to Bwindi

Early morning Bush walk for 2 hours to see the wildlife at a close quarter including the Zebras, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck thereafter drive heading to Mbarara with a visit to Igongo Cultural village this is more rewarding and amazing as you visit the Ankole museum. Lunch break is made at Agip Motel Mbarara. After lunch, drive to Bwindi. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds, valleys, hilltops and papyrus swamps.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc. The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 – 6 hours but its well worth the effort. After you will transfer to Rwanda around Volcanoes National Park.

Day 5: Golden Monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park

Golden monkeys trekking takes place in Volcanoes national park. These rare species are also listed as endangered – and Volcanoes national park currently has two habituated golden monkeys’ troops that are available for visiting by tourists in the park, both of which make about 80 members. The exercise starts with a short briefing from the park ranger at the RDB Office.

Thereafter, you will proceed to track the golden monkeys through the rain forest on the volcanoes. Later, you will go for a community visit (if time and energy allows) and thereafter return to your accommodation for the overnight stay.

Day 6: Drive to Nyungwe National Park

Today, have a morning breakfast and then go for boat ride at Lake Kive which will give you a cool sea breath and a spot a t number of water birds including the pied kingfishers, African darters to mention but a few. Thereafter, embark on the journey to Nyungwe National Park. Nyungwe National Park lies in southwest Rwanda, partly abutting the Burundi border. It’s a vast area of mountain rainforest, home to many species of chimpanzees, plus owl-faced and colobus monkeys. The Canopy Walkway is one of the highlights while here. A high suspension bridge with views over the valley and surrounding forests giving you great experience to pot a number of bird species and wildlife.

You will enjoy scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park, arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon relaxation enjoying the Lodge’s amenities.

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest

Today, after an early morning breakfast, you will head to trek chimpanzee in the beautiful jungles of Nyungwe, where you will have a great chance to spot other primates such as the Angola colobus monkeys, red colobus monkeys, and number of bird species and later return back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch and a brief repose at the accommodation, head out to undertake the canopy walk. This is the most incredible adventures you don’t want to miss. You will have the opportunity to see the monkeys move around in the tree tops, the birds that are flying above you and below you and a beautiful view of the huge Nyungwe forest and quite a number of butterflies. It’s also an amazing sight.

Day 8: Travel to Kigali

Have an early morning breakfast and then checkout to proceed to Butare (where you will visit) the ethnographic museum before embarking on a drive to Kigali.

After the ethnographic museum, you will also visit King’s Palace Museum-Rukari (Based in Nyanza, 88 km south of Kigali City). This was the residence of King Mutara III Rudahigwa and the Royal Palace that was traditionally built. This Palace offers a detailed look into Rwandan traditional seat of their monarchy, it is an impressive museum, restored to its 19th century state and made entirely with traditional materials.

Day 9: Kigali city tour and departure

In the morning after the breakfast you may have a city tour including the visit of Kigali Genocide Memorial center where over 25000 Rwandese were buried for their memory after the brutal genocide incidence prior to your departure.
