8 Days Big Five Safari

This 8 day Uganda safari tour leads you to Uganda’s most famous parks; Murchison Falls National park, Queen Elizabeth National park, and then relax at the magical lake Bunyonyi. This gives you an opportunity to  view a lot of wildlife including, buffaloes, The African elephant, hippos, warthogs, the white rhinoceros, lions, leopards, giraffes, monkeys, Nile crocodiles, monitor lizards, hyenas, kobs, impalas, and many more. Over 1200 bird species have been recorded in Uganda, so expect enjoy bird watching since Uganda is birding paradise. It has been combined with some visits to the local communities, not forgetting that the best way to experience cultural tourism is to spend some time with the locals.

Day 8: Airport Transfer

Day 1:  Airport Transfer

On arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be met by your guide for transfer to your accommodation in Entebbe. On this day, you will be briefed about your whole tour. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may have a Kampala city tour leading you to the Kampala City centre, Uganda Museum, Gadaffi Mosque, Owino market and Uganda Martyrs shrine Namugongo.

Day 2: Transfer Murchison Falls National park.

You will wake up on a morning breakfast prepared by your accommodation and then depart for Murchison falls, have lunch on the way and reach the park in the afternoon. You will have a stop at the Ziwa rhino sanctuary, track rhinos in their natural habitat on foot before you proceed to Murchison Falls. Ziwa rhino sanctuary is the only place where you see rhinos in the wild in Uganda as they were declared extinct in the country by 1993.On arrival to Murchison Falls National park; you are to have a boat trip on the world’s longest river (River Nile). Expect to see hundreds of hippos bathing, crocodiles, warthogs, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, cheetah, wild dogs and many more. This park is also home to over 350 bird species. You are advised to wear a hat and insect repellent to avoid bites of insects. You will then feed on packed lunch and hike with your guide to the top of the falls using the same route used by British Explorer Sir Samuel Baler and his wife Florence Baker. This gives you an opportunity to see how the Victoria Nile plunges over 45 meters over the Remnant rift valley wall thus creating the amazing Murchison Falls. You will also be able to see the rainbow that appears on the top of the falls all day. After here, check in lodge for evening accommodation.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National park

On this day, you will be woken up by the singing birds outside your camp, have breakfast, cross the River Nile by ferry to the Para side of the park for a morning game drive in search for a number of animals. Expect to see warthogs, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, hyenas,  waterbucks, oribis, giraffes and many more. This park is also home to over 450 bird species.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Having had breakfast, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National park for another wildlife experience. This park was named after Queen Elizabeth of England after her remarkable visit. Queen Elizabeth is Uganda’s most visited Park and is home to four of the African big five excluding the rhino. More than 1000 species of birds have been recorded here. Arrival will be in the evening.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Adventure

We shall have an early morning game drive accompanied by Bush Breakfast in the Kasenyi sector. Expect to see many elephants, buffaloes, lions, hyenas, leopards, warthogs many antelope species such as oribi, kobs, impalas, statungas, hartebeests, waterbucks and many more. You then go for a boat trip on the Kazinga channel which is also known as center of ecology. This will give you a platform to see a number of bird species and other wildlife. This water stream joins lakes Edward and George and is said to have the largest concentration of hippos in the world. You shall then have some rest at the Mweya peninsula before going for an evening game drive to see more animals. You then drive to your lodge for evening accommodation.

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

In the morning, we have breakfast at our accommodation, visit one of the fishing villages on lake George and later visit the lake Katwe salty lake. This lake has been in existence since the 16th century and is responsible for survival of people leaving in the Katwe village. You will learn about how salt is extracted from the salt pans and made ready for consumption. We then have lunch and depart for Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district passing through the Ishasha wilderness. This part is famous for the tree climbing lions and many bird species thus making the journey spectacular.  Arrival at our accommodation will be in the evening.

Travel Time – Approximately 6 hours

Day 7: Relax  at lake Bunyonyi.

On this day, you have a number of optional activities to choose from; canoeing around the lake, visit the legendary islands or visit the Batwa community. Note that, Lake Bunyonyi was proven bilharzia free and therefore safe for swimming.

Day 8: Airport Transfer

We depart after breakfast for transfer to Kampala or Entebbe to catch your flight. You pass the ever green plant cover that Uganda is known for having a stop in Mbarara town for lunch. We then continue and have another stop at Kayabwe (The equator village) to take some photos at the equator which may act as souvenirs after your holiday. Arrival at Entebbe will be in the evening; therefore, you are advised to book an evening flight on this day. Note that Uganda time is GMT +3HRS.
