5 Days Bwindi Gorillas and Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari

Your 5 days safari adventure takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the home of almost half of Uganda’s mountain gorillas, and to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Uganda’s most visited park, and a habitat to a myriad wildlife species including the noteworthy tree-climbing lions. Queen Elizabeth is a habitat to over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species.

Day 1: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park – nocturnal game drive – guided nature walk

Day 2: Game drive in the park – boat cruise on Kazinga channel

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking excursion – explore Maramagambo forest – transfer to Bwindi

Day 4: Gorilla trekking excursion – Batwa trail experience

Day 5: Final excursions in Bwindi – return to Kampala – end of safari

Day 1: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park – nocturnal game drive – guided nature walk

Your safari begins when you embark on a drive to Uganda’s most popular tourist destination – Queen Elizabeth National Park situated in the south-western region. The park’s location offers a panoramic view across; dozens of enormous craters, rugged hills, the Kazinga channel, humid forests, savannahs and fertile wetlands. You will embark on a nocturnal game drive before you retire to your accommodation for the night. Before the dusk sets in, you can embark on a guided nature walk in; Mweya peninsula, the shady Maramagambo forest or along the banks of Ishasha river.

Day 2: Game drive in the park – boat cruise on Kazinga channel

Your day will begin with a classic game drive through any of the park’s main tracks; Kasenyi, the north Kazinga plains and the fascinating Ishasha sector. Guaranteed wildlife sightings include; buffaloes, antelopes, elephants, warthogs, baboons, and the tree-climbing lions found in Ishasha. You will embark on a Kazinga channel cruise in the afternoon. You will sight pods of hippos and crocodiles basking at the water banks. Over 60 bird species can be spotted while cruising on the channel.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking excursion – explore Maramagambo forest – transfer to Bwindi

The day’s first adventure will be a chimpanzee trekking excursion in Kyambura gorge. The 1-3 hours excursion is your chance to encounter a habituated chimpanzee family and myriad number of wildlife species. In the early afternoon, you will go out to Maramagambo forest to explore the famous ‘bat cave’. As the afternoon wanes, you will set out on a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking excursion – Batwa trail experience

Your adventures in Bwindi will begin with a mountain gorilla trekking excursion in the early morning. After a briefing from park authorities, you will hit one of the trailheads and begin your quest for a habituated gorilla family. After spending an hour observing the family and its members, you will have a lunch break and then embark a Batwa cultural experience. You will encounter the Batwa – a tribe of pygmy native forest dwellers.

Day 5: Final excursions in Bwindi – return to Kampala – end of safari

At the climax of your safari, you can choose to embark on a birding excursion in the morning, or go out for a guided nature walk in the forest, you can also choose to go mountain bike riding in Buhoma area. After concluding your adventures in Bwindi, you will embark on a return drive to Kampala – Uganda’s capital. This will mark the end of your safari.
