Your 4 days Rwanda Gorilla trekking safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park, the home of Rwanda’s mountain gorillas. The park is situated in north-western Rwanda, at the country’s border with Congo and Uganda. Besides being a home to five of the eight Virunga volcanoes – Karisimbi, Muhabura, Bisoke, Gahinga and Sabyinyo, the park is a habitat to the endangered mountain gorillas and rare golden monkeys.

Day 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park
Your 4 days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari will begin with a guide picking you from Kigali airport or your residence in the capital. After a briefing, you will embark on a drive to Volcanoes National Park – the home of Rwanda’s mountain gorillas. You will have lunch en-route and arrive at the park in the afternoon. You will then embark on a Musanze cave tour before retiring to your select accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
You will have breakfast and then report to the park headquarters. After a briefing from park authorities, you will embark on a quest for a habituated gorilla family. The trek normally lasts between 2-8 hours before you encounter a family. Once you find the gorillas, you get to spend an hour observing them interact with each other and go about their daily routine. After the excursion, you will embark on a community tour before retiring to your lodge for the night.
Day 3: Exploring Volcanoes National Park
You will spend the day exploring Volcanoes National Park. The many adventures you could embark on during the day include; golden money trekking, climbing the Karisimbi and bisoke volcanoes, touring the lakes and the caves, visiting the tomb of Dian Fossey, and embarking on a Iby’Iwacu cultural village tour.
Day 4: Return to the capital – Kigali city tour – end of safari
After having breakfast, you will embark on a return drive to Rwanda’s capital. Once in Kigali, you will embark on a city tour for an encounter with some of the country’s major attractions. The places you will pay a visit to include; the Kigali Genocide Memorial – the ‘resting place’ of more than 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide massacre. Later, your guide will drive you to the airport if you have a flight to catch. This will mark the end of your safari.
